SCHOOL BOARD OF GOVERNORS LEMBAGA PENGELOLA SEKOLAH (LPS)

Objective:

• To resolve problems concerning the school land and its buildings;
• To find effective solution to schools facing closure.
• To ensure that the schools received the financial allocations made for them.

As provided for in the Education Act 1996, part IV, Chapter 11, section 53 it is mandatory for schools other than the national schools to have their board of governors. In 2007, the formation of school board of governors was jointly initiated by Tamil Foundation Malaysia, EWRF and the Headmasters Council Malaysia.

In fact, it is a matter of regret that before the Tamil Foundation took the initiative to form the school board of governors, less than 10 per cent of the Tamil schools only had their boards of governors.
